military 'warriors' are getting testosterone to make them better but if i want estrogen it's a felony.

The current US Defense Secretary—Pete Hegseth—has decided that we should be testing soldiers for their testosterone levels in order to improve their efficiency and lethality in combat. Essentially, people 30 and older (although younger people can opt-in) will be screened for low testosterone levels, and, if 'needed', they can be supplemented with HRT. He believes it is necessary to improve performance in the military. To me, this sounds precisely like gender-affirming care—the exact thing that his party is attempting to ban throughout much of the country.

In my wonderful home state of Florida, it is a felony for a doctor to prescribe me HRT1. Across the US, there are discussions about whether or not medicare/medicaid and other tax-funded programs should be allowed to cover gender-affirming care for trans people, yet members of the military are able to get testosterone covered by taxes to give them some advantage over the countries we have no business being in.

don't piss me off with this.

  1. FL CS/SB 254 treats prescribing gender-affirming care to minors—including puberty blockers, hormones, or surgeries—a felony. An exception is only made for people who started their treatment before the law was enacted. It also restricts adult's access to gender-affirming care.
